Care was started in 1974 in Rugby, and thirty - five years
later
there are well over one hundred schemes now operating in England and Wales.Crossroads Care East Midlands (which is based in Nottingham ) is now well established in Grantham. Some Grantham carers have already benefitted from Crossroads Care support. On their website, Crossroads Care East Midlands have described their objectives:- "The primary goal of Crossroads Care is to facilitate the Carer(s) to temporarily remove themselves from the extensive pressure of providing care to their loved ones". Care support is available in the home, outside the home & overnight, for children and adults with all types of disabilities. Other services include Palliative care and Day Centre care. All of the carer support workers have been trained to deliver the highest standards of quality care. The services can be funded by direct payments or individualised budgets, which are arranged by the local authority. Alternatively, service users may choose to pay privately for services.
