The National Autistic Society (NAS) Early Bird Programme is a three-month programme designed to help parents and carers understand their child’s autism and find ways to communicate, interact and generally make contact.

Up to two parents (or carers) from the family commit to a weekly group training session of about two-and-a-half hours for about eight weeks. plus individual home visits for three weeks.    For more information click on the icon below.EarlybirdEarly Bird is for the parents of a pre-school child with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

EarlyBird Plus

For parents of a child who meets all three conditions below there is EarlyBird Plus:

  1. Received a later diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  2. Aged 4-9
  3. In Early Years or Key Stage One provision

The NAS Early Bird Plus programme involves eight weekly group sessions, again of about  two-and-a-half hours, plus two home visits.        Two places on the course are allocated to each family, with a third place available for a professional who works with the child,  e.g. a classroom support assistant, or speech and language therapist, nursery nurse etc.

The Early Bird Plus programme is delivered by professionals who have been trained by the NAS.       The programmes are held at various locations  in the county to meet the local demand.        For more information click the same icon above and scroll down.
